Ways to give

Before you give: who is eligible

Ontario's Municipal Elections Act sets clear rules for municipal campaigns. By donating, you confirm that:

  • You are an individual who lives in Ontario. (If your spouse is not an Ontario resident, they may still give to this campaign only.)
  • You are giving your own money, not funds from someone else, a business, or an organization.
  • Your total contributions to this campaign are $1,200 or less. That is the legal maximum from any one person.

A few things to know:

  • No tax receipt. Contributions to a municipal campaign are not tax-deductible, and I cannot issue charitable tax receipts. This is true for every municipal candidate.
  • Your name and address are required. Ontario law requires me to record them. If your total giving is more than $100, your name and address appear on the campaign's financial statement, which is filed with the City and posted publicly.
  • Where it goes. Every contribution is deposited into the dedicated campaign bank account and spent only on the campaign, within the legal spending limit.

Other ways to help

Money is not the only way, and for many people it is not the best way. A lawn sign, an hour at a door, or simply telling your neighbours carries real weight in a ward race. Email me and I will find a fit.
